Learn self-myofascial release/massage techniques to ease pain and improve posture and range of motion. In this class, you will learn how to use simple tools (mostly utilizing a tennis ball, but also a lacrosse ball, foam roller, pvc pipe and Theracane) to work out knots and tight areas in your body. You will be guided through working on 12-15 muscles each class and learn how tightness in these areas contribute to back pain, neck pain, plantar fasciitis, etc.
The class will be on-going taught the second Monday of each month 6:30-7:30pm. There will be a rotation of of area of focus as follows:
- July 8, 2019 - upper body
- August 10, 2019 - key areas and corrective posture exercises
- September 9, 2019 - lower body and corrective posture exercises
- October 14, 2019 - upper body and corrective posture exercises
Each class is $15. You can come to one class or all of them. The more you work on yourself the better you will feel. You will start to understand how the restrictions in your body impede your posture and cause pain, and how working out the knots will help you have better posture and movement.
Karen Potter has been a massage a therapist for 15 years and owns Body Sage Massage Therapy in Shrewsbury, MA. She is also a certified personal trainer. She raced at the elite level in cross country and endurance mountain biking for 20 years giving her much expertise in understanding how to keep her body healthy through the demands of rigorous training.
Participants will need to bring a yoga mat, tennis ball and/or lacrosse ball.
Class is held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 440 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA. Each class is $15.
